I'm a 30 year old woman who has just been diagnosed with ADHD a couple of months ago and I need to make a decision as to whether I want to go on medication or not. The main medication offered in New Zealand is methylphenidate (ritalin) and I'm curious as to people's experiences who have been on it.

What aspects of ADHD did you find it helped with? Which ones did it not help with?

What kinds of side effects did you have?, etc.

I have a meeting with a psychologist next week to decided whether i want a referral to a psychiatrist for a prescription so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also apologies if this pops up all over the place as I am cross-posting at a couple of other communites.

Hi all. I have been taking vacations and swamped with my job, and I have neglected this community sadly, but I intend to rectify this now that I am back! Let's make this an active place. :)

Housekeeping: First, I'm the same mod, but I've switched over to managing the community with the username I have for my personal, ADD-related journal (which has also been neglected of late) because . . . well, that just makes more sense to me.

Second: If anyone has any links to any ADHD resources (any resources, but particularly those with an emphasis on women), please comment with them in this post or PM me so I can add them to our link list.

Now, on to the meat of the post. )

Hi there!

I'm your host and mod, Fallia, and I've noticed a sad lack of resources and communities for females with ADHD. I thought I'd change that. Soon I'll be making a resource post and adding some links. If anyone has anything they'd like to offer, please comment to this post and I'll make sure I add it to the list.

Intro posts are welcome! I'll be making one soon myself. Make yourself at home.
